Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCiM)
Introduction - Convergence
Today's need for real-time systematic access to or the reporting of data centre information crosses organizational boundaries. Customers at large in virtually every industry segment maintain discrete databases or spreadsheets in managing assets and information as they pertain to facilities management (FM) and iinformation technology (IT). Many organizations rely on numeric and text-based information repositories that are maintained without any systematic integration or consolidation between the IT and the Facilities communities of interest. Information once deemed proprietary to IT or Facilities organizations/divisions, must be consolidated and integrated to enable effective and responsive access to and the reporting of information.
Provided discretely or in concert with our program management services portfolio, our DCiM services create a consistent and accessible framework for combining all kinds of relevant information - graphic, numeric and textual.
DCiM functions allow clients real-time access to information or assets traditionally captured, (or not captured at all), in eight discrete operational segments:

DCiM requirements are accelerated by the increase in work group collaboration, where teams of people may be collaborating across the globe on projects. The Facilities and IT support systems must now access, visualize and control the data centre. Enterprise configuration management requires a tight link between graphical maps/tools/programs and the underlying databases. The the integrity and continuity of information is key in managing the detail necessary to support the business and the IT strategy.
